I mentioned last week that Morgan and I were in the middle of watching the Netflix original, Stranger Things and promised an update when we finished.
Well, here it is.
I've mentioned before that science fiction is not my genre of choice, so when I say that this show is a 'must watch', you know there has to be something to it.
For anyone who has missed the hype thus far, Stranger Things follows the disappearance of a young boy in rural Indiana in the 1980s.
America and aliens in the 80s with young children? This was always going to have some kind of E.T vibe to it but what I wasn't prepared for was the amazing attention to detail and production value of this show.
From the music to the colour palette to the font used in the credits, everything about this has a highly saturated 80s feel to it, but in the most authentic way possible and as a child of the 80s, this felt like home to me.
The only thing I was excited for going into this show, was the inclusion of Winona Ryder as the mother of the missing boy and even though I love her and enjoyed her performance, she ended up being one of the less compelling aspects of the entire show.
To me Stranger Things feels like a mix between the aforementioned, E.T coupled with the 00s TV shows, Roswell and Dark Angel but with infinity better scripts and cinematography. It's definitely one to check out.
For those of you who have watched the show, how great is Eleven!
For those of you who haven't yet, keep an eye out for Eleven, she steals the show in the best possible way.
Personally, I'm already anticipating season two. This show is a winner.
