Today's Youtube video is a book haul that includes some lovely new editions of A.A. Milne's Pooh Bear books.
A common knowledge fact that tends to float about is that both Milne and his son (the 'real life' Christopher Robin) both grew to hate the stories and their characters.
I've look into various interviews and writings on the pair and I'm not sure either of them would have gone quite as far as all that.
The fame and popularity of the books would become a burden at times it would seem and neither have been remembered for much else but from what I've read it adds up to frustration and inconvenience and not necessarily a regret.
If we want to talk resentful authors, I much prefer the drama around Conan Doyle's Holmes books. Poor thing wanted nothing more than to be remembered for something other than Holmes. Alas, it was not meant to be.
