Yesterday I watched the 2013 romantic drama Remember Sunday and I have to say I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
The movie stars Alexis Bledel as Molly, a waitress with a dream and Zachery Levi as Gus, a former NASA scientist who due to an aneurysm has his short term memory wiped every time he goes to sleep.
The concept is, I suppose, similar to that of 50 First Dates (a movie I haven't seen since it first came out); however, it is infinitely more 'real'.
Remember Sunday is promoted as a romantic drama and not a comedy with good reason. There are a lot of beautiful more light heated moments in this movie but at its core is something very melancholy and sometimes bittersweet, although I did find the ending hopeful.
If you're looking for a straight up 'happily ever after' in your romantic films, this may be one to skip but there was something truly sweet and optimistic about this film that really got to me.
I learned after the fact that this was a Hallmark production and I'm glad I didn't know going in because I probably wouldn't have bothered with it but I'm glad I did. There's a lot to like about Remember Sunday and I think it's one I'll go back to at some point.
