I just got back from seeing The Conjuring 2.
I have been a horror movie junkie and The Conjuring was one of the best I'd seen in years so I had high hopes for the sequel.
Alas, I left the cinema with mixed feelings. I definitely enjoyed the movie and had fun watching it but it The Conjuring 2 definitely upped the ham factor, while lowering the special effects.
The movie is set, for the most part, in the London borough of Enfield in 1977 during the famous hauntings that took place there.
Of course, like the first film, we are back with spiritualists, Ed and Lorraine Warren as they attempt to help yet another unfortunate family deal with demonic activity in their home.
I have to say that as far as the characters and the acting went, I was still definitely on board for this movie, but I did take issue with some of the haunting elements.
Overall, I still enjoyed this movie and think it's above standard when it comes to commercial horror movies, even if it didn't quite live up to the first in the franchise.
If you're a fan of the original and want another glimpse into the lives of Ed and Lorraine Warren than I would recommend giving it a watch, but if you were only partially interested in the first, I'd give this a miss.
