If you're anything like me you have a practically never ending list of media you want to check out. Movies, TV shows, books, music, blogs, youtube channels. ALL THE THINGS!
One of those that has been on my radar for a couple of years now is the BBC TV series, Broadchurch starring David Tennant and Olivia Colman. It was a pretty hyped show when it first aired and I knew I wanted to give it a try for myself but it was only over the last weekend that I actually got around to it.
So, when I tell you that my boyfriend and I started watching it Sunday and we've already finished all 16 episodes that make up the first and second season, you know it was a hit.
Depending on the premise and characters I can like a crime drama as much as the next person, but I'm not sure I've ever felt the urgency to see where the story was headed so strongly as I did with Broadchurch.
The series revolves around detectives, Alec Hardy (Tennant) and Ellie Miller (Colman) who are leading the investigation into the murder of an 11 year old boy in the small coastal town of Broadchurch.
I've been a fan of Tennant for quite a few years now but have been less impressed with the numerous roles I've seen Colman play but let me tell you, as someone who wasn't much of a fan of hers, Olive Colman OWNS this show. Her portrayal of Ellie Miller is practically flawless. She has a lot of difficult scenes and the way she handles herself left me speechless. The entire show is amazing but it's honestly worth watching for her performance alone.
So if you're at all interested in crime dramas and haven't check out this particular one, get on it. You'll wonder what took you so long.
