If you are a fan of The Beatles, you will have probably heard of their much beloved producer, George Martin.
About 90 seconds ago I found out that Martin passed away today, aged 90. Hell of an innings for a hell of a man.
I have loved The Beatles for about 15 years now, my teenage years being at the forefront of my obsession, and a huge part of my love for them and their music comes from learning more about them from the amazing and fantastically epic documentary series, The Beatles Anthology.
In that documentary series, George Martin is interviewed at length. He is very possibly my favourite part about that entire eleven and a half hours of incredible footage.
He speaks with such clarity and passion for both the music and the boys. He was adorably naive to at least half of what the swinging sixties had to offer but he was never naive about his work. He was a talented visionary and the world is a poorer place without him in it.
If you're a music lover and want to hear someone speak about the recording process eloquently and sincerely, I highly recommend looking up some old George Martin interviews. You won't regret it.
