Today's Trivia Tuesday was meant to be something else entirely but when I came across this adorable children's book online, this morning, I knew I had to share this instead.
The book, Tru and Nellie (pictured above) by G. Neri is a fictionalised account of the friendship between literary giants Truman Capote and Nellie Harper Lee as children.
This, in itself, seemed charming enough but when I did a little research it became apparent that this lovely looking book is loosely based in reality. Capote and Harper were, in fact, childhood friends.
I have a feeling this is pretty common knowledge, but for some reason, I'd never been privy to this little gem of information.
It, in general, isn't all that surprising when writers strike up friendships with their literary peers but for them to be friends as children before either of them dreamed of the kind of legendary legacy they would leave behind is astonishing to me. I adore how close knit 'the greats' of literature can be at times. Makes my bookishly nerdy heart happy.
