I'm having a moment with the illustrator, Kay Nielsen.
If you're unfamiliar, he is an Danish artist who worked during the 'golden age of illustration'. Most of his work is fairy tale inspired and he even worked for Disney from 1937 to 1941, which included conceptual art for a few of the movements in Fantasia.
I'm not sure exactly when I became aware of his existence, but at some point his name stuck with me as an artist whose style I adored and which I could for the most part, recognise when I saw it.
There is just something so enchanting about his work. The colour palette and the fluid lines. I just lose time when I'm looking at his art. It drips away from me in puddles, and before I know it I'm somewhere else entirely.
If you're a fan illustration or fairy tale images then I highly suggest looking up Kay Nielsen and browsing some of his images. It's not a bad way to spend some time.
