Today has been a very cat centric day for me, full of love and worry. Our littlest fur baby got desexed today (spayed, if you're from another part of the world) and while, it is, of course a routine procedure, it was still quite stressful for us and her.
So, what better fact to talk about for Trivia Tuesday than my very favourite one involving the ever enigmatic feline?
Cats, as far as we can tell, domesticated themselves. If you're a cat person, this probably doesn't seem particularly surprising. Cat's are known to be headstrong and often choose their human, instead of the other way around.
In the wild, cats don't actually meow. Sure, they hiss and growl, when upset with another animal, but they only seem to meow to humans.
They let us know when they are hungry, scared, sad, happy, and while we for the most part take care of them, they do attempt to return the favor.
Ever had the unfortunate experience of your cat bringing you food they've caught or found? It's speculated that this might be your cat trying to provide for you, worried that maybe you can't manage for yourself. Disturbing, but still kind of sweet.
Cats, it seem, have chosen us humans as their life companions. Bound together in a mutual pact of care and solidarity. I, for one, feel lucky.
