I was born in the 80s, a time when My Little Pony was practically a mandatory part of childhood, and I was more than happy to comply with the rules.
I loved the animated series, movies and toys, so when My Little Pony was rebooted for the (super lamely titled) Friendship is Magic series in 2010, I was obviously appalled that my childhoodmemories were being messed with in such a way.
I was quick to judge but soon learned the error of my ways.
Friendship is Magic, while having a ridiculous title, is actually a vast improvement on the My Little Pony franchise from the 1980s.
It took something sweet but a little lacklustre and gave it personality, humour and a well considered makeover.
I've now been a fan of Friendship is Magic for several years and am actually having a re-watch of the series at the moment (hence the current need to shout it out).
If you, like me, were a fan of My Little Pony (and are still happy to watch a smart and funny children's series today), I highly recommend giving it a watch.
Do make sure you get past the first double episode, though, before you make your final judgement. Most of the seasons begin and end with a somewhat more elaborate story, and I personally don't think they can compare to the charm of the 'regular' episodes that make up the bulk of the seasons.
